I might be wrong about this, but I thought Time Travel (according to Future Trunks in the android saga) worked like this:
When someone goes back and changes an event, it doesn't change the future, but rather creates an alternate time line, which explained why Future Trunks was still the way he was.

Does this come into play in the game? Or is this completely ignored?

I'm not all against the whole time travel thing, I actually think it's a clever idea. Being able to travel between the notable events in DB and DBZ is a really interesting idea and makes the game more appealing.

I don't think that part of time traveling has been addressed yet. But, that is a good point.

He does create alternate timelines when he travels, but it seems like he can still go back to the new timelines hes created once he leaves them. Assuming that you can travel along any timeline but your own this would work in the game's story (as the character you play as isn't from the time we're playing in) without breaking any of the rules set the manga. It's been a while since I've watched the Android/Cell saga so I'm not 100% sure.

All rules might be out though as the Dark Eye is just going crazy with time which has introduced time leaks.

Hmm. I'm sure it won't be too hard to explain.
And I haven't read much of the lore (Mostly due to that I can't find anything) on the game, so I have no idea who Dark Eye is.

lol this is a very hard thing to explain XP , the time travel paradox is realy complicated in which if you go back to the past are you modifing one reality or another, its a hard matter and i think we should not think too much about this , but if you want you can search this matter in google and if you reach a conclusion , share it whit us XD

Well, where there's time travel, there's a mountain of plot holes and paradox's.

It probably remains that way, Future Trunks is only repairing the damage cause by the Dark Eye because he is a well mannered guy and the Dark Eye most probably comes from his future. He knows his future wont change if he does anything to the past but he does know he can fix the future for another timeline so that is why he is helping.

It may not be that just Trunks is a nice guy, he could be part of an organization (Time Patrolers) which might explain his new name (Time Patrol Trunks).

Also, there's no paradoxes if you can't modify your own timeline (at least I can't think of any off the top of my head).

well i dont know if thats the case since the game takes place hundreds of years after Z ended so even future trunks would be dead by now. if they were from his time then they would have happened already since he was just a few years into the future. its possible that after he took out cell in his own time instead of just settling down he went to see what the future held so thats why hes around.

Now is not Future Trunks, but Past or Time Patrol Trunks.
There isn't any plot hole. When you travel in time, you create anotther Universe. Well, Dark Hand is creating Universes with winning villains, mind controlled characters and that kind of stuff, so Time Patrolers are there to stop them.
