Hello everyone, and welcome to my 1st dbo guide!
1st off i'd like to say that this is guide is just an addition to the guide found
here.
Note:This guide is
ONLY FOR Windows 2000/XP users!
The rest of you follow the original guide posted above.
According to the original guide if you are a 2000/XP user you'll need an original Windows installation disc and i know that, like myself, many of you don't have it, so in this post i'll explain how to bypass that in a noob friendly, step by step way.
So lets begin:
Step 1: You'll need a torrent download software, most common are
BitCommet and
uTorrent. If you already have one or you downloaded and installed it proceed to step 2.
Step 2: Next thing you'll need is East Asian Language Pack(the thing for which you need to have the Windows installation CD). I found mine
here.
Note: This link worked for me, but i didn't check if its virus free. So if you have the time to check it and found something please post here so the others know and try googling for other file.
Step 3: When you downloaded the file put it somewhere where you can find it later.
Example: C:\East Asian Language Files
Step 4: Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options.
Put your location to China(don't know is this necessary or not because i did it earlyer in my desperate attempt to get things done). Then go to the Languages card and check the - Install files for East Asian Languages -.
Click OK
Step 5: At this time an installation process should start and you will be asked to insert the Windows installation CD. At this point you should click browse and find the file you downloaded earlier.
Example: You click on Browse then double click on C, double click on East Asian Language Files, then double click on I386 and double click on LANG. At this point you can see only one file(i think its called CPLEXE.EX_ but not sure), click on it and click on OK. Your installation should start.
Step 6: Near the end of the installation the installation will ask you for the CD again, then you'll need to put in another file in.
Example: Browse again, C -> East Asian Language Files -> I386 -> the file(i think its called XJIS.NL_ but again not sure) and press ok.
After couple of min the installation will be completed and you'll be asked to restart your PC - do it.
Step 7: When you're running again go to Start -> Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options. Click on the 2nd tab (Languages) and click on Details, and a new window will open. In that window click the add button. Add button will open another window called Add Input Language. There you will see Input language: and a drop-down menu under it. Open the menu and find Chinese(Taiwan). Click OK there, OK on the window before that, and APPLY followed up with OK on the Regional and Language options menu.
Step 8: Open DBO and see the chinese letters!
